Landowners in northeastern Kansas are opposing the Kickapoo Tribe's push for a new water reservoir.

The tribe says the project will alleviate long-running drought problems on the reservation. The tribe has asked a water district to exercise its eminent domain to take land needed for the reservoir. Of the 1,288 acres required, the tribe owns 223 acres.

Landowners are fighting the request. The issue will be taken up tomorrow by the water district.
