First Nation sues Canada for $20B in lost revenues

The Stoney First Nation of Alberta has sued the Canadian government for $20 billion in revenues derived from the use of land the tribe ceded in an 1877 treaty.

The band claims it is entitled to the money because tribal leaders who signed Treaty 7 believed they were sharing the land, not giving it up.

The Stoney First Nation was one of seven bands that signed the treaty.
