The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians easily won approval for a casino agreement in South Bend, Indiana.

The city's common council voted unanimously to approve the memorandum of understanding on Monday night, according to news reports. The deal brings local support to the proposed casino at the tribe's land-into-trust site.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs is still reviewing the environmental impact statement for the project but nothing overt has occurred in over a year. There is no timeline for a decision.

The tribe operates three gaming facilities in Michigan. The casino in Indiana would be the first of its kind in the state.
