The Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians in California has hired 150 employees in preparation of reopening its shuttered casino.

The Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino closed last October amid an internal leadership feud. Tribal leaders are negotiating with county, state and federal officials in hopes of getting the facility back up and running as soon as this month.

“When we open there will be pent-up demand, so we want to be prepared for it,” Christian Goode, the casino's chief operating officer, told The Fresno Bee. “We want to make sure the guests remain very comfortable, very happy.”

The tribe plans to hire about 1,000 people once the casino reopens. That's about the same number as before.
