Three gamblers who sued the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut for $3 million have lost their case.

Cheung Yin Sun, Long Mei Fang and Zong Yang Li deposited $1.6 million into their accounts at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in December 2011. They proceeded to win another $1.148 million in chips by playing the mini-baccarat card game.

Casino officials, however, refused to pay the winnings or return the money in the accounts because they suspected cheating. The patrons admitted to "edge sorting" of the cards used during the game but they say the practice is not illegal under tribal law or state law.

The patrons, though, didn't get very far in their claim for $3 million from the tribe. Judge Janet C. Hall dismissed their complaint on Monday for lack of jurisdiction over the casino defendants.
