The Otoe-Missouria Tribe has reached a deal with Perry, Oklahoma, for a casino in the city. The tribe will pay $250,000 up front to the city and $30,000 a year, Oklahoma Watch reported. The payments will cover city services to the new casino. The 4,500 square-foot facility is being built on an allotment that was held in trust for an individual tribal member. The tribe has since acquired a majority interest in a parcel that's been described as one city lot. "The land was and continues to be held in trust status by the federal government under the jurisdiction of the Otoe-Missouria Tribe. The status has never changed, just the ownership,” Chairman John Shotton told Oklahoma Watch. The tribe has purchased two additional lots that will be used for parking. Those parcels are not in trust. The casino is expected to open this summer. The tribe operates four other gaming facilities. Get the Story:
