Oklahoma tribes have donated $450,000 to an anti-gaming candidate for governor of Texas.

KPRC didn't identify the tribes that contributed to Republican Greg Abbott. But GamblingCompliance reported that the money came from the Chickasaw Nation and the Choctaw Nation.

"One thing tribal groups want to avoid is casino gambling being legalized in Texas and they know that by supporting Greg Abbott they have a bulwark against casino gambling here in the Lone Star state," Mark Jones, the chair of the political science department at Rice University, told KPRC.

Both tribes operate casinos near the border that draw patrons from Texas.
