Oklahoma tribes share more revenues with state

Oklahoma tribes, already leading the Indian gaming industry in terms of growth, are sharing more of their revenues with the state, the Office of State Finance reported.

In fiscal year 2009, tribes with Class III compacts contributed $105.6 million to the state. That's a 30 percent increase from $81.4 million in 2008.

The largest contributor was the Chickasaw Nation, with $28.7 million in shared revenues. The Choctaw Nation was next, with $21.5 million.

In northeast Oklahoma, the largest contributor was the Quapaw Tribe, with $4.5 million in shared revenues. The amount is significant because the Downstream Casino Resort just marked its one-year anniversary on Sunday.

Tribes with compacts share 4 percent to 6 percent of revenues from electronic games and 10 percent of revenues from table games with the state.
