Tribal leaders in Montana have formed the Montana Tribal Gaming Association, Jodi Rave of The Missoulian reports.
The new group will promote opportunities to strengthen tribal gaming. Some leaders say the current tribal-state compacts limit their ability to expand. The compacts limit the number of slot machines each tribe can operate.
Montana's tribal casinos brought in just $16.3 million last year, according to the latest Indian Gaming Industry Report.
The association's members are theBlackfeet Nation, the Chippewa Cree Tribe, the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, the Crow Nation, the Gros Ventre and Assiniboine Tribes and the Northern Cheyenne Nation.
