Tigua Tribe still struggling after casino closure

The Tigua Tribe of Texas was forced to shut down its casino more than three years ago and the effects are still being felt today.

The tribe has closed businesses, laid off employees and is slowly running out of reserve money. Tribal members who need financial assistance can no longer get it.

The tribe is hopeful for a change in state law that would allow the casino to reopen with slot machines. For now, the tribe is operating Class II machines but they aren't bringing in enough revenues. Before the casino closed, it brought in $62 million a year.
