Saginaw Chippewa Tribe wins approval to open credit union
The Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan is set to open a credit union this fall.

The Chippewa Eagle Federal Credit Union won approval from the National Credit Union Administration, a federal agency. "The membership is very excited about this," tribal spokesperson Frank Cloutier told The Mt. Pleasant Morning Sun.

The credit union will serve about 7,800 people -- tribal members and tribal employees. It will offer share accounts, personal loans and, eventually, credit lines and business accounts.
