Seneca Nation breaks ground on $20M golf course

The Seneca Nation broke ground on an off-reservation golf course on Monday.

The $20 million Hickory Stick Golf Club is located in Lewiston. The public course will generate an estimated $300,000 in property taxes and nearly $400,000 in sales taxes, and will have an economic impact of $4.3 million in its first year of operation, tribal officials said.

“This area has always been, and forever will be, our home,” President Maurice A. John Sr. said, The Buffalo News reported.

Construction at the 251-acre site is expected to take two years. The course was designed by award-winning architect Robert Trent Jones II.
